TWAS and UNESCO Launch 2024: Call for Researchers in Developing Countries to Collaborate at Centres of Excellence
Researchers from developing countries working in the natural sciences are invited to apply for the TWAS-UNESCO Associateship Scheme, which provides an opportunity to visit leading centres of excellence in the Global South. The programme, established in 1994 by The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and UNESCO, aims to strengthen scientific collaboration and capacity in developing countries.
Eligible candidates must hold a PhD or equivalent degree and be citizens of a developing country in the South. Women scientists and those from isolated institutions are particularly encouraged to apply. Successful applicants will be appointed for three years and can visit a designated centre twice for two to three months each time to pursue collaborative research.
Most participating centres are located in Argentina, with additional centres in Africa, Asia and South and Central America. Travel support and a contribution towards subsistence costs of up to $300 per month are provided by TWAS, while living expenses are covered by the host institutions.
The application deadline is 5 December 2024.
