SAMS Privacy Notice (POPIA Compliance)
The South African Mathematical Society (SAMS) recognises that one of its fundamental responsibilities in terms of the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) is to ensure that it protects personal information entrusted to it by its members. This is essential for the Society’s reputation and for complying with its legal obligations.
SAMS processes limited personal information of its members for purposes directly related to the activities of the Society. This includes membership administration, communication regarding conferences and events, distribution of newsletters and announcements, and financial record-keeping.
Appropriate safeguards are implemented to ensure that personal information is processed securely and only for legitimate purposes.
This notice represents the SAMS Privacy Policy in respect of its members. A comprehensive Protection of Personal Information Policy is available on request.
