ACTIVITIES
Some of the society’s activities include the publication of the journal Quaestiones Mathematicae as well as the Notices of the South African Mathematical Society. We also organize an Annual Congress as a forum for members to exchange ideas and recent advances in research. In addition to that, together with AMESA we represent the interests of the mathematics community of the country on various national and international structures. SAMS is also deeply involved in the organisation of the annual South African Mathematics Olympiad, the training of the South African International Mathematics Olympiad team and the South African Tertiary Mathematics Olympiad.
Please note that SAMS is not an accreditation body, but rather a voluntary professional society. Queries regarding either professional registration and/or assistance in obtaining a critical skills visa, must therefore be directed to SACNASP, not SAMS. Please refer to the “Policy” page for further details.
