Following last week’s announcement of the reciprocal membership agreement between SAMS and SIAM, we would like to draw members’ attention to some additional opportunities offered through SIAM membership, particularly for students and early-career researchers.
SIAM offers several pathways through which students may qualify for free SIAM student membership, including membership of a recognized SIAM Student Chapter, enrolment at a SIAM Academic Member institution (for postgraduate students), or nomination by an existing SIAM member.
Student membership comes with a range of benefits, including:
- Free membership of up to two SIAM Activity Groups (SIAGs), providing opportunities to connect with international research communities in specific areas of mathematics.
- Substantial discounts on SIAM conference registration fees.
- Access to SIAM publications, including SIAM News and SIAM Review.
- Eligibility for certain travel awards and prizes.
SIAM also offers an Outreach membership option, which provides another opportunity to engage with its activities and international mathematical community.
These Activity Groups offer an excellent way to connect with researchers internationally, keep up to date with developments in particular fields, and build valuable research connections.
We encourage our postgraduate students and early-career researchers to explore these opportunities. Further information on SIAM membership and its benefits is available on the SIAM website.
