South African-Japan Discrete Homotopy Meeting 2025

It is our pleasure to announce the conference “South African-Japanese Discrete Homotopy Meeting 2025” that will be held September 10-11, 2025, at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. Attached to this announcement is the conference poster (for more details, also see the conference website).

SAJDHM2025 is designed as a first interaction with the University of Fukuoka in the form of a workshop for the IRGTADS members, in order to work properly on projects related to Topological Data Analysis. Preliminary activities have been planned seminars given by the International Research Group in Topology, Algebra and Dynamical Systems (IRGTADS) in July 2025, while additional lectures (at a descriptive level) and scientific activities will be planned during the workshop. These will deal with algebraic topology, combinatorial topology and discrete homotopy theory, but always in the perspective of potential applications to TDA and AI. In particular, there will be additional collaborations with other experts in related fields during the week of SAJDHM.

The aim of the scientific activities is primarily devoted to illustrate the main ideas of the project to the youngest members of IRGTADS: they will be placed among the University of Cape Town and the University of the Western Cape in South Africa.

The following invited speakers are confirmed for this conference:

  • Daisuke Kishimoto (Kyushu University, Kyushu, Japan)
  • Manjunath Gandhi (University of Pretoria, Pretoria, South Africa)
  • Takahiro Matsushita (Shinshu University, Nagano, Japan)

If you are interested in participating in this conference, please fill in the following registration form:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSce1Tp0WacpXHFHUYrabJyee4zlwpE9EahDeJ6xYTXaqb0JBg/viewform,

and register for the event. The attendance is subject to availability of space in the venue and to the priority of having a workshop for the IRGTADS members and their collaborators on the topic of the scientific project “Topological Data Analysis using A-homotopy Theory” which has been supported by NRF and JSPS during the years 2025-2026. However online attendance is more flexible.

Please forward this announcement and poster to everybody that also might be interested in attending this conference.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
